When using your 2x12 cab at a gig do you elevate the cab or just sit it on the floor with your head on top?
I am just curious to know what the sound is like with it sat on the floor as I have used 4x12 in the past and obviously you can clearly hear them!

I had a flightcase for my head so i use to stick the 2 x 12 on top of that then it was roughly the same height as a 4 x 12. I also taped the centre of the speaker on the fretcloth to get a more even sound.

That's exactly what I do

Cab sits on flightcase I use for the head and puts it more in the firing line for your (and your audiences) ears.
Definitely helps get more of the high range to peoples ears.

As Karltone says above - The sticking tape across the centre of the speaker thing is kind of a DIY beam blocker, helps spread some of the very tops and reduces how directional the sound is ........ at least that is how I understand it - it worked on my Mesa 4x12 pretty well which was ridiculously harsh when you stood in front of it :ugeek:

I've got to have mine elevated. I usually stick it on a table so the speakers are around stomach height

Could you post a picture showing how you have taped the centre of the speaker on the fretcloth, just curious to see what it looks like.

I simply put a 4'' x 4'' square of black gaffer tape on the fretcloth central to the cone of the speaker.
