Is there likely to be any difference in the sound of the 6L6 compared to the EL34's? If so I think I'll try a 6L6 head.

My last shipment I had about 30 amps, I think I had 2 Roadhouses with bad tubes, but I considered it a shipping problem. It was no big deal, I had new power tubes and biased them up and out the door.

I have never had any customer in the USA ever call me about a malfunctioning Roadhouse amplifier ever. These have been sold in the US for over 2 years now, maybe even 3.

It was purely a tube problem. I think Paul said the tube company at that time was just down the road so it was very easy to go down there and pick up tubes.

I wouldn't be upset if you get an amp with EL34's. It doesn't mean its old stock at all, it means the economy in the world has been terrible for a couple years and the store you bought it from still has some amps they haven't gotten rid of. Be happy you found one, the amps in the US are very sought after right now. I am getting calls every day.

I assume you are talking of the R50s since the R30s are cathode bias and have no bias trimpot inside..

At which bias point (in mA) did you bias them?
