Stereo Rigs - which amp to use as the master/preamp

Post by Jamie B » Mon Jun 02, 2008 11:54 am

Hiya all,

I'm keen to start using a stereo setup for my live gigs, We're only a three piece and I’m hoping it will thicken out the sound a bit more as well as give a bit more volume.

I currently use a mk50 and a 4x12.

I'll keep the mk50 and either add a MK50ii or a Hellcat for the master amp/preamp, using my old mk50 as the slave amp, splitting the signal from the master amp's fx loop. All this will drive 2 2x12 or 1x12 cabs.

Which amp would you chaps recommend for the master amp. I need a clean channel and an overdrive which they both have. Has anyone tried blending a hellcat with an MK50 like this? I would be effectively (on one side of the rig) be driving a mk50 with a hellcat preamp.

Any ideas?
