Should I buy a used mk50 mkii?

Post by rockridge98 » Mon Aug 26, 2013 8:16 pm

My local music store (California) has a used mk50 mkii. I'd never tried one before, tried it, loved it.
I'm tempted to get it, but I'm a bit leery because they are out of business.
They are asking usd $2300 plus tax, but I'm guessing I could get them to knock it down 100 or 200.
1) Does this seem like a reasonable price?
2) Are they simple enough that the average amp tech could work on it if something went wrong?
Thanks for any input..

Short answer is yes!

Can't really answer your other questions though. How much are used SLO's in the US? I've read that Soldano and Cornford have similarities so maybe that would be better for you if you are worried about Cornford not being around. I've never had the chance to play any Soldano's so can't give any comparisons.

Are you answering yes to 1) or yes to 2) :) .
I hadn't tried a Soldano in a while, but from what I remember I think the overdrive channel is smoother on the Cornford.

Yes to both. Once you have it, you will love it.

Get the Cornford! The MK50H II is closer to a Bogner 100B in its circuit design.
