helppp ''fixed biased tubes'' RH 50

Post by huss » Thu Oct 10, 2013 11:21 am

actually im happy with the stock tubes and i dont want to rebias the amp :) when im going to change the tubes... so which tubes doesnt need biasing again and make me use the benefits of ''fixed biasing'' so im asking the stock tube inside the amp or the tubes which doesnt require biasing ?

The shortest answer is: "all of them" :-)

Good luck !

I believe this advice is incorrect. It is my understanding that when you replace valves :-

They should be a matched pair

The amp should be re-biased

Fixed Bias amps are AMPS THAT REQUIRE BIASING as the amp cannot respond/adapt to the different loads that diffrent tubes palce on them. i.e. THEY ARE FIXED. If you were to get tubes with a radically different reading then you could damage the amp by running it too hot.

Will work with any tubes. But for the optimal operation of the tubes (effect on the sound) and live longer of the tubes recommended to adjust Bias.

Yes, matched pair EL34 will work. But there is a probability of more rapid failure of the tubes.
